Boating in the 1000 Islands
Often called the "Jewel of the St. Lawrence," the 1000 Islands region is renowned for its scenic beauty and historic charm. This unique area features over 1,800 islands scattered along the St. Lawrence River, offering a picturesque setting for boating, kayaking, and fishing.
Popular destinations like Boldt Castle, Thousand Islands National Park, and the charming towns of Gananoque and Alexandria Bay make it a favorite for nature lovers and history buffs alike.

What a Day on the Water Looks Like
Staying at Watermark with your boat means you start every morning with an easy choice: take the short walk down to the dock, cast off, and go wherever the river takes you. The 1000 Islands region rewards spontaneity - you might spend a morning anchored off a quiet island, drift across to Gananoque for lunch, then head out towards Boldt Castle in the afternoon before returning to find your berth exactly as you left it.
Our dock accommodates a range of boat sizes, from smaller pleasure craft to larger pontoons. A guest with a pontoon boat told us: "There is a 10 slip dock that accommodated our large pontoon boat" - so if you're bringing a bigger vessel, you're in safe hands. If you're unsure whether your boat is suitable before you book, just get in touch and we'll confirm.
Not bringing a boat? The region is also well-served by boat tours and rentals out of Gananoque, Rockport, and Kingston, so you can still experience the Islands from the water without trailering anything. And if you're planning to launch locally, Peck's Marina and the Ivy Lea Public Boat Launch are both close by.
The dock is exclusively for Watermark guests — there's no marina traffic, no strangers, and no queuing. It's private, it's convenient, and for boaters, it's genuinely one of the best things about staying here.
Also planning to swim or paddle? See our Waterfront Access page for everything the river has to offer beyond the dock.
